"My wife is a clean freak, but your bathhouse is cleaner than our bathroom at home!" Anonymous by request, Charlotte, NC
"We had a great time this weekend. We talked on the way back home about when we would come back. You two were the best camp hosts we have ever encountered and we liked that, too. I loved everything about the campground--what else can I say?"
Doug and Bernard, Kannapolis, NC
"I hope to come back. I loved your location, and the bathhouse was excellent. It was one I could take a shower in and come out of feeling clean. Keep up the good work." Tony, Columbia, SC
"Hey Mark and Steven – Thanks again for a wonderful stay at your campground. The kids told me on the way home that they love going there… and that you all treated them with “love and respect”. And you do. And that’s why we look forward to going there. You both are wonderful in every way." Gaylen, Asheville, NC
"Just wanted to thank you both for a wonderful stay at your great campground. We had heard Bill and Diane talk about your place (and your kindness and friendship) for months and we were glad to finally meet you and see your place. I can't decide if I want to keep your place my secret or share it with others... for now, I'll just keep it to myself!" Darby, Vero Beach, FL
We truly enjoyed your kindness, hospitality, and the cleanliness of our tent site. As it was the first time we have explored your area of NC, we feel like your campground was a great discovery. The beauty of the area and the peacefulness of our campsite revived our spirit. We have already recommended it to our friends and certainly wouldn't hesitate to return. LaVerne & Malcolm ,Saratoga Springs NY
"The beauty of the natural surroundings, the secluded campsite, the night songs of the katydids, the clean bathhouse and the helpful attentiveness of hosts Mark and Steven made for a truly magical camping weekend. We will take some of Ash Grove’s spirit back home with us." Aubrey, Greensboro, NC
Oxygen Magazine Chooses Ash Grove as Best Campsite for Nature Lovers...
We took six months out to explore America in a camper van and during that time visited some great sites. I'd recommend this as the perfect way to get to know the real America and meet some real people, much better than just doing the Disney trail.
It's difficult to choose a single campsite, but we very much liked Ash Grove which is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina in the middle of some of the US's most outstandingly beautiful countryside. It covers 14 acres of forested mountainside and has room for camper vans and tents as well as some cabins for hire if you don't want to take your own accommodation, The region is called the "Land of Waterfalls" and is perfect for hiking or biking through the forest trails. It is incredibly peaceful, the perfect getaway for stressed out professionals and nature-loving couples. It's also a really good spot for bird-watching.
There are plenty of opportunities to ride the
rapids & plenty of golf courses nearby although we never left the
site once we were there. We went in summer, but apparently the site is
great all year round. Look out for the white squir¬rels in winter, and
spring is supposed to be great for enjoying wild azaleas and dogwoods.
According to the locals, autumn is the most romantic time to visit
because the trees turn and forest floor is a picture of color.
